Is Summer really over >?

We can not believe that the summer is almost over.  We had a Labor Day / 25 Year Eagle Nest Anniversary / Joan and Walters 40th Wedding Anniversary party here at the park.  Tents, a band, catered with an Open Bar (the best kind !).  Here are some pics..........

I had the opportunity to atttend the Polson Fly-in Breakfast this last Saturday.  There was a good turn out with about 50 planes coming in.  My favorite was this 1928 Travel Air.  Restored to perfect 1920's airliner !

This is the very cool landing lights that popped down out of the wings.......

Complete with wicker seats and wooden yokes.......

Even a bathroom in the tail !

A beautiful Airplane !

A tailwind came in too...............

The Missoula Life Flight came in and set up a display..............................

AN AT6 came in too and gave us a low fly by...............................

A flight line shot....................................

We also had an End of Summer Margarita Pool Party this last weekend !  Fun Times, Good Food, and Excellent Margaritas !

Even though we are only a week away from our final shift here at the resort, we will probably hang around until October 12th helping out with the house.  From there we are heading south !  1st stop, Livingston Texas to get registered as Texas residents.  It will take a day or two to get everything changed over.  We chose Texas as our domicile due to tax advantages, good health care plans, and great insurance rates.  After that we are off to "Mooch Dock" (free camping on a friends property) at our friends Shannon and Debbies Beach Side house in Surfside Texas !  Their house is 18 feet above the ground and our rig should fit right under it !  We will hang out there the balance of October, November, and part of December.  We will fly home for a couple of weeks over the Holidays and when we get back we will depart for Mission Texas.  We will spend January, February, March, and part of April at the Retama Village RV park.  Mission is in the very southern tip of Texas and have very warm temperatures all winter long !  Can you say RIO GRAND Valley !

That is all for now.  Stay tuned for more to come...............................................

Free Beer, Wheeling, Friends, and Family..........................

If you recall in the last post I said I was going to the place with Free beer........WELL ! When your friends leave and have left over alcohol and can't take it with them, you get free Beer and other goodies...........Here is a pic of us enjoying a Rock and a Lime-a-Rita !  Thanks Gang !

This last weekend we went for another run with the Jeep Club.  An early start (7AM) got us down to the Idaho border at a reasonable time,  From there we descended down into the Black Canyon.  In the bottom of the Canyon there is the Clark Fork River and a two track road.  The Canyon is deep and looks like there is no exit ahead, and then it takes a 180 degree turn and continues on.  Here are some pics.......

Here is a shot of some of the rigs that went on the run at our lunch stop............................

The Cedar trees in the canyon are huge.  You get a feel for how big they are here...........................

And a nice shot of our rig.............................

On the way home from the Jeep run we had to pass the National Bison Range and we decided to take a run through it.  Here are some of the pics from our drive..........

A pronghorn.

 A Bison (Buffalo).

A herd of Deer, check out the big boy in the middle of the screen !

Also last week we had a nice surprise, some close family friends called and were coming our way from Banff and wanted to know if we had room.  We did indeed have room for them.  The Skones, Joe and Barbara have been close family friends for some time.  They are part of the aviation club that my Father belongs too.  We were having our first football game at the gazebo party and they tagged along.................................... Grizzlys win it in the last few seconds !!

We also had a great meal with them at the McKenzie River Pizza Company..........................

They spent a few days with us and I think they enjoyed the R&R !  It was good to see them and Safe travels to them !

Our Daughter ran in a "Tough Mudder" competition and sent us these pics.  Sounds like a grueling competition !
