Ending one Chapter and starting another !!

I apologize for the delay in getting this post up........we have been crazy busy and you will see why !

With steam showing up on the pool in Montana, it was a sure sign that we should start thinking about heading SOUTH !

BUT, before we left we had our good friends the "Trandersons" come across from Seattle to visit us for a couple of days !  John and I were best buddies back in High School and have tried to keep in touch across the continent, but we all know how that goes.  It was great to see him and his Wife Tuyet,  It was great to see how relationships do not change over time.  We took them on a long day run in the Jeep showing them all the things that we could in the valley........................

John and Tuyet

Artsy Waterfall Shot

Johns turn to take a pic

St. Ignatius Mission.  All hand painted murals by the cook !

 Really unique.

Info.

Dinner at Finley Point

We had a great couple of days hanging out with them and are looking forward to spending time with them in Seattle next year.

With the end of summer comes the Eagle Nest Golf Tournament.  Here is the Motley Crue that turned out at Glacier National Golf Course for the event.........................

And here is the beautiful Trophy that the winning four some won........that and bragging rights......

Hold on a second, could we get a closer look at that trophy.................well my, my, look whose team won it !!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner !!

Our gracious Friends / Owners / Bosses, Walter and Joann, took the whole crew out to a great end of season dinner at the Raven.  A great time was had by all !

And just before we left Polson was the annual Fly In that I love to attend.......................

Airplanes from all over fly in for a great breakfast !

 Cool little Bi-plane.

Even an Amphibian !

Speaking of Amphibians, we had one last Kayak trip.  Check out the fall colors closing in........

It was a beautiful day for a paddle........

Lunch !!

Eagle Rock.

With our good byes said, some hugs, and even some tears, we were off to Arizona !  Mesa Arizona to be exact.  It took us just over  a week to complete the trip.  We did stop and smell the roses a bit on the trip down......... we heard that our friends Terry and Judy were heading to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park, Sooooooooooooo we met them there !

Here we all are at Bryce Canyon (Standing on a cliff)...............

 The Arch !

Hoo-Doo's !  Indian lore says that each Hoo-Doo represents a great Warrior.

Tunnel Rock.

Absolutely Beautiful !

Pics do not do this place justice.  If you are ever in Utah, stop and see it !

Zion is a little different.  At Bryce you were  up on top looking down most the time and at Zion you are down looking up.  Completely different, not that far from each other and completely beautiful !

 Breath taking !

This shot is a little blurry, but it is at the end of a 3 mile hike up the canyon.  It continues into the "narrows" where you hike in the water until the canyon closes up to just a few feet.  We were not set up for further exploration (Water Shoes and Walking Sticks), but we will come back and hike it out.

Again, pics just don't do it justice.......

After saying our good byes to Terry and Judy, we were off to our next stop......Boulder City and the Hoover Dam.......

Engineering Marvel !

The story about the building of this dam is quite incredible.  A great place to visit.  High Recommend it !  With all the hiking around the dam we had worked up a thirst and decided to visit the Boulder City Brewery.  Some great beer !  And they had a great Bluegrass Band playing in the court yard.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM !

Next stop................. Val Vista Village RV Resort.  This is where we are going to spend our winter.

Here is a shot of our site with the rig all set up !  Fred and Ethel standing guard !!

Home Sweet Home, for now................

A little back story on how we chose VVV.  We had a great couple (Terry and Glenda) come in this summer to the park in Polson and we hit it off with them right away.  When we told them we were going to Florida (our original plan), they said why not Arizona ? !  They then explained the great early season deal here at VVV and when we saw the regular rates for Jan, Feb, and March, we were in !  They have made us feel like this is already home for us.  They have introduced us to what seems to be a couple hundred people !!

One of our first excursions here was a run to Tortilla Flats.  It is a small, very small town up in the mountains to the north west of us in Mesa.  It is a beautiful drive and at the end you are rewarded by a great burger and beer !

Saddle seats at the bar !

Check out the wall paper !

Terry and Glenda (Terry just saw the check !  LOL)

Good times.  Our second outing was a run on the Light Rail from Mesa, through Tempe, to Downtown Phoenix.  We went to Alice Coopers place for Lunch............................

Cool place with lots of memorabilia !

Old tour posters..............

And they are famous for the Big Weenie.  2 feet of smoked goodness.  Our friends Howie and Chief split it !!

Next stop was the D-backs stadium........................

Outside.....

 Inside.

The nest three shots were framed items inside the stadium I thought were cool.......
How and what makes up this mitt......

 This bat.......

And a regulation hard ball !

You would be surprised how many of our guests that come to the Eagle Nest RV Resort either live in or stay in the Phoenix area during the winter months.  One such couple and good friends of ours are Carl and Susan.  They live down near Chandler and invited us and Terry and Glenda down for an Oktoberfest type dinner at there beautiful home.  Good times !

Did I say Octoberfest ?? !!  Well one of our sister parks had a big blast !  Good food, free beer, and good times !

 MMMMM  !!!!

Even a real German band !

We also have 4 pools to choose from here at VVV !

Tough life !

And the sunsets !!

Last Monday the resort had a Halloween Party at the Ballroom.  70's themed.   Great band.  25 Cent beers and wines.  Lots of FUN !

 Yeah man !

 The chicks !

 Da gang !

 Back of the Bus !

 Yeah, more free beer.............

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww !

One thing I have been missing since we went on the road is a bike.  Motorcycle that is.  Well I started looking around and found this beauty cheap on Craigslist.  So i bought it.  It will either get sold in the spring or will head north with us back to Montana........................

BMW !   The "Grey Ghost".

There are lots of Motorcycles and riders in the park.  Saturday we took a group ride to South Mountain Park.  This is literally a mountain just south of the city of Phoenix.  It is a twisty turny up and down road that climbs its way through switchbacks to the top where the views are incredible........

This was our first stop.  From here hiking and bicycling trails take off in all directions and you get a peek of Phoenix through the 2 hills.........

Here is a panoramic shot from the top.

Can you imagine what this would look like at night.  We are coming back to find out.....

 Cheeser shot from the lookout.

Grey Ghost at the lookout with a Beemer buddy across the way.................

 On the way up.................

Quite a variety of bikes on this ride !

Towers at the top.  Mostly TV and Radio Antenna's...........

 On the way down.............

200 + Year old Saguaro Cactus along the way.........

Ok, I have been rambling on a bit long.  I again apologize for the length of time between posts.  I have decided to perhaps try out this thing they call Facebook (have you heard of it ??) and use that as a better medium for keeping up with friends and family.  Time will tell.  Here are a couple of fun shots..........

Bren with the full moon at her finger tip !

Can you pick out our Golf Cart ?? !!   LOL !

This is a cool trick for all of us that enjoy our adult beverage chilled, but not watered down.  Simply take you favorite rocks glass, fill it half full with water, and tilt over in freezer.  Add your favorite adult beverage after the water is frozen to ice and you have about a half an hour to have a nice chilled drink with out diluting it.............

And finally I will leave you with some funny's...............

Take care, be safe, and more to come......................................................
