Sweet Summer Time !

Last Thursday we went up to Whitefish to play Pickle ball with the group up there.  We had a large turn out, 30, and played all day long.  We drove up with our friends Dennis and Deborah.  He made me promise that I would not put this next pic on Facebook, but, my Blog is a different story.  It seems Dennis likes dolls..........................LOL !

I did not put it on Face Book....................

Thursday night found us at our favorite watering hole having a good beer and a $2 Makers Mark or 2.......

Friday we were helping out with about 4 rigs that all came in at once and I heard someone say, Mike is in the office.  I looked out to see a familiar face, Fred, my friend and Co-worker appeared at the door.  Now back at a party in March or April we talked about what I was doing with my retirement and I told Fred that we were going to be spending our summer in Montana.  He told me he was going out there as well to visit some relatives and that he would look me up.  We were a few beers into it and I guess I never really expected to see him !

That is Fred on my right, his wife on my left and her sister on my far left.  I showed them around the park and our site and the rig.  They seemed pretty interested in our new lifestyle..... maybe we will see them down the road ?? !!  It was good to see a familiar face from home.  Good ol Stevie Tepel sent along a Mac Tunes CD for me too.  Much appreciated.  Some of that Chump Mix would have been cool ......

Saturday we went down to Polson Cherry Festival.  It was about 5 blocks of crafts, cherries, jewelry, cherries, food, cherries, .......you get the idea.  A good time...................

And we came home with some.........................Cherries !  Here is what they look like in a jar of Old Weller Antique Bourbon,........................ MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM !!

Sunday we went down the the St. Ignatius Fly In Breakfast.  Huckleberry Pancakes, Thick cut breakfast ham, Eggs, and the fixin's.  It is funny how all Fly In breakfasts are so similar.  Cooking in a Hangar, Lots of worker Bee's and the man in charge (Usually My Dad - back home)........

See the chief, blue shirt, ball hat, leaning over the grill, if he was a few inches taller it could have been my Father !!  Lots of planes.  A couple Vans Rv's, a Plautus Turbo Prop, a carbon fiber super cub that raised the rear wheel immediately after applying power and was off the ground in about 20 feet.......

A good meal and a great time.  Afterward we drove over to the Mountains looking for Ashley lake,  but the Jeep trail up to it was closed due to the heavy concentration of Grizzly Bears up there.  Apparently they like a specific type of insect that hatches about this time of year that is their delicacy.  That was enough info for us to wait awhile before we go up there !!

Sooooo, we went to McDonald Lake !  It is a very beautiful Mountain Lake that acts as a reservoir for the irrigation along the east side of the valley.  It was about 30 feet lower than the last time we were up there.  It has been a very dry year this year........

Very beautiful.  Brenda said I do not get in enough pics, so here is a shot of me at the lake........

If I am looking a little thinner, I have lost 25 pounds since retiring !  Feels good !  Brenda has lost 15 Pounds.  Being active (biking, hiking, pickle ball, etc...) is a good thing.........................

With that said, on Monday we went up to woods bay for Margarita Monday !  It is at a cool little bar right on the Bay with beautiful views.  They even had entertainment !  The Bad Larry's.................

2 guys, 3 regular guitars, 4 Basses.  He is playing the Ukulele Bass in the pic,  He also had a full size (6 ft) real orchestra type Bass.  They played some great music  (Dylan, Cash, Greenday) and we had front row seats.  The crowd was fun to watch too. Bren enjoyed the Margaritas.........................

And the views......................

Too much fun !  More to come !!
